Adventure Time!

It was a nice day.  Period.  Why stay indoors?  In fact, why even stay in Jacksonville?

So we left.

First, we had lunch at a Whataburger next to a cow field. I did not order a hamburger (that’s a little too much on the fresh side of beef for me).

With full bellies, the kid and I were able to decide on an actual destination, besides the Whataburger in Starke. We decided on Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville.  I’ve been there twice before.  Once with a friend of mine (who liked to take photographs and later paint the image onto a canvas) and another time when I was planning my wedding.  Er…I never did get married but my friend is still a fine painter, I’m sure.

Oh, and in case you were looking…I FOUND WALDO! (coordinates: 29°47′23″N 82°10′15″W) (Hint to drivers: When in Waldo, Starke, or Lawtey and you see signs regarding the speed limit…heed them.)

It was about 80 degrees when we left Jacksonville at 11am.  By the time we got to Gainesville, it was 3,225 degrees at 2pm. I guess that’s what happens when you travel inland and south.  Hah! Who knew??

Here are pictures of stuff:

Hey, look who we found – it’s Zorak from Space Ghost!  Time has certainly been no friend to him.

About Dena

I'm a suburban Clevelander by way of Oklahoma City, by way of North Florida, by way of Southern Maryland, by way of Upper Michigan, by way of Northern Italy, by way of Lower Michigan, by way of Texas. Because of living in so many places, I have something in common with almost everyone I meet. I love reading, writing, and American history (especially reading or writing about American history). I'm interested in culture of place, historical trauma, and writing about the kinds of histories most people don't know about.
